For many shipments of Amazon items, Amazon itself is at the mercy of the USPS. Here is the scoop on the USPS as I understand it. We do think that longer times are in store for heavier items, partially due to Amazon delays in shipping and partially due to changes at the USPS. I love the convenience of being able to buy all kinds of stuff in one spot, but I'd much rather support a company directly than go through a middleman when I can.Īmended: I just checked and light weight items we ordered on Saturday arrived today. On the plus side, I've discovered that I can get some of my favorite, frequently used items directly from the companies themselves without paying a huge markup or shelling out more for shipping than the product itself costs. I'm glad to hear that Amazon is still working well for some, but I'm at the point where I'm not going to bother with it except for a few items that I can't find on island or buy directly from the company. (I know the first one is often down to shipping and handling and not Amazon's fault necessarily, but if they can't get an item to me in usable condition, what's the point in ordering from them?) I wouldn't mind that so much if the prices weren't also increasing rapidly, plus I've had to return things far more often for arriving broken, being used rather than new, or being knockoffs. (It wasn't the only reason I didn't renew, but it was a major factor.) That started even before I dropped Prime. It used to be fairly quick like going out in 2 - 3 days, but now it's more like 2 - 3 weeks for most things - and sometimes much longer. Count me as one of those experiencing increasingly worse shipping times.
